Zhizhuo Zhang, an award-winning body coach and winner of the Arnold Classic Amateur Class C, has taken to a “Make It, not Fake It” mindset in the hopes that more Asians will join the bodybuilding industry using his own experience in the business.
Zhang comes from an ordinary Chinese family, with no bodybuilding experience when he lived in China. It wasn’t until he came to the U.S. for his master’s studies in 2016 that he chose to become a bodybuilder. His inspiration came from watching his strong, healthy American friends.
Since he didn’t feel the need to take rich supplements or expensive classes, he watched videos of the best coaches in the industry. Zhang’s figure was notably different within a year, and he received many praises for it. He took fourth place at the NPC Garden State Championship Open Class C, where friends then encouraged him to attend the 2019 Arnold Classic.
Despite confidence in himself, he came in last in the competition. Losing loved ones simultaneously at the same time has added insult to injury. However, it’s the pain that helps people to mature.
