The first Junior Orange Bowl Queen, Sandy Wirth, was crowned in 1951 starting a tradition of shaping and mentoring young community leaders. This prestigious tradition will continue on April 11, 2021, during the Second Annual Youth Ambassador Fashion Show at the InterContinental at Doral Miami. The fashion show is the finale of a two-part selection process, which takes place annually, and culminates in the crowning of four girls to serve as the 2021 – 2022 Junior Orange Bowl Youth Ambassadors.
“It is an honor to continue a seventy-year tradition and to be entrusted to shape a program that not only pays tribute to its roots but has grown to meet the changing needs of today’s youth. Though it has transformed through the years, this program has always been about serving the community, empowering young women, and instilling them with confidence,” stated Luisaura Alvarez, Youth Ambassador Committee Chair.
The Youth Ambassador program provides young women, ages 8 to 16, the opportunity to be engaged with the community through service projects that instill leadership skills. The program offers a variety of workshops throughout the year which features industry professionals who provide education and mentorship opportunities. The mission is to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders.
