How did you get started in the finance industry? What sparked your interest in it?
After working for a Fortune 500 company for a number of years in customer service I realized that my love for numbers and helping people manage money was important to me. I decided after experiencing a three-hour unexpected commute one day to work that I could maximize my time doing something I enjoy. I started a new career in finance and found it extremely rewarding.
You’ve helped educate and empower so many people over the years. Does one success story stand out to you over others?
Yes! As a child my parents taught me the importance of managing money, establishing credit, and property ownership at an early age. It was indeed an honor to be able to serve as the executor of my grandmother’s estate and my daddy’s estate and assist them with their investments in their retirement years. As a teenager, my first job was at Six Flags over Georgia. I was a front gate cashier. One day I counted over $15,000 in ticket sales and got the idea to start my own business. That dream became a reality.
On top of powerhouse in the finance industry, you can also call yourself a Bestselling author as a part of the anthology, The Great LeadHERship Awakening. How did this anthology come about?
When doing what I love to do which is providing excellent service to others I believe in partnering with others who are on similar journeys. Through networking with phenomenal leaders, I was invited by Kayleigh O’Keefe of Soul Excellence Publishing to co-author this incredible leadership book with 23 female leaders. I am honored to be one of the authors and truly inspired by what we created together to inspire women globally.
What are some takeaway points women reading this anthology can take and apply to their lives?
This book invites the reader to embrace their true essence and express their ‘LeadHERship’ gifts to positively impact the world. Each of the twenty-four successful soulful women share from a place of ‘LeadHERship’, courage and power.
If you had words of advice for a young business professional, what would you tell them?
Do what you love and love what you do! You are chosen to do something uniquely with the talent within. Set goals and accomplish them; do it again and again and again. Always be learning, always growing, always sharing, and always leading.
