GF Contemporary announces Pascal Piermé / Origines + Life—a retrospective of the sculptor’s career with a public opening on Friday, Oct. 21, from 5 to 7 pm. The exhibition will present at least 25 pieces created over nearly three decades and include seminal works on loan from private collections, as well as new works shown for the first time.
Origines + Life demonstrates the evolution of Piermés career over almost 30 years. “It is one thing, if you are a local artist and you come and stay for 30 years, but when you are European and after 27 years you still work and you still show here, that is an interesting thing,” says Piermé.
In addition to the artist’s premier retrospective, which features the sculptor’s renowned minimalist mahogany sculptures alongside 3D mixed media wall pieces, the opening evening will mark the launch of Piermé’s first monograph, published by GF Contemporary.
“Producing this book in collaboration with Pascal has been a special opportunity to engage in the creative process together. I’m also gratified to be able to offer it to Pascal’s collectors, his other professional collaborators and those who are seeing his art for the first time. He has created a body of work numbering close to 4,000 pieces to date, and it’s time to document this accomplishment for collectors and posterity,” says gallerist and GF Contemporary owner, Deborah Fritz.
Pascal Piermé / Origines + Life will be on view from Oct. 21 through Nov. 6, 2022. The limited-edition monograph of the same name will be available for purchase for 85 USD at GF Contemporary.
