San Francisco City Guides has recently launched a new Climate Change Walking Tour at San Francisco’s Crissy Field on San Francisco Bay. This tour is free for both visitors and locals who want to explore the impact of climate change against the backdrop of the panoramic views of San Francisco Bay and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.
The tour is guided by knowledgeable volunteers, who will invite participants to engage in meaningful dialogue about the imminent threats posed by climate change and rising sea levels in San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The tour covers various topics, including the restoration efforts to transform Crissy Field into a carbon-absorbing haven and bird-friendly marsh, the establishment of a nature preserve enveloping a wetland, and the tales of local environmental champions. The tour also touches on how rapid population growth has dramatically altered the habitats of birds, trees, and fish in the region, San Francisco’s strides toward sustainability, and practical ways to minimize one’s carbon footprint.
