As a leading digital marketer in the event promotion space, Henry Gavilanez is all about events that bring people together and create memorable experiences for everyone.
Originally from a large family that places positive social experiences and togetherness at the top of the priority list, he found that event marketing, communication and connecting with people came naturally in his career.
“When it comes to even promotion, there’s an art to making it all work,” says Gavilanez.
Gavilanez noticed his knack for event marketing and promotion when he was planning for Sirona’s Cerec 25th event that aimed to recruit both doctors and dentists across the U.S. to one of the most popular dental seminar events of the year. It was niche, it was specific, and it was no problem for Gavilanez.
“You need to cater each and every event to the right person. You can’t promote a specific event to everyone, but instead need to have the knowledge and the experience to be able to reach the right audiences and engage them in a meaningful way,” says Gavilanez.
Henry Gavilanez has skills that lie far beyond solely event promotion and ensuring that turnout is strong. He also focuses heavily on focusing events and creating a communications strategy so that he can work to find the audiences that will be interested.
“Rather than creating an event for everybody, it’s important to create an event for the right people, specific people,” says Gavilanez.
He goes on to say that when you create a specific event with a focus, that is when you will see your ROI on the event go up as well. General events won’t necessarily bring in the people you’re looking for unless it’s early stage awareness or simply to gain random attention from your audience.
“Events become much more impactful and stand out better when they focus on the thoughts and interests of people, and right down to the planning level, event promoters and organizers need to keep in mind their audience.”
Gavilanez says when all the criteria is followed and a solid event is created with a clear focus, his job as a marketer of events becomes so much easier. He can find a variety of ways to pitch and sell the event, and to maximize audience turnout, engagement and overall positive experience.
For Henry Gavilanez, event promotion and marketing comes naturally to him. It has been a crucial part of his upbringing and a perfect synthesis of his passions and ambitions.
“It’s technical and you need to have great planning skills, but it’s also social and impactful and brings people together,” says Gavilanez, who maintains that in-person events and connecting with others is a crucial and fundamental part of the human experience.
Gavilanez has created his own event promotion personal website to share event marketing and promotional tips with his audience, but the site serves much more of a purpose than simply teaching people how to host successful events.
“It encourages people to host events that bring people together, to get out of their comfort zone, do more, and bring people together.”
