Cancun
Cancun is a travel destination that needs no introduction. Arguably Mexico’s most famous resort town and a tested and trusted vacation hotspot, there’s much to love. Whether your idea of a good time is seeing nights become morning while sipping cocktails in a nightclub, relaxing on pristine beaches, or exploring ancient ruins, Cancun has it all.
Cancun at a Glance
Located on Mexico’s famed Yucatan Peninsula, Cancun has a reputation as a party haven – but that’s not all it is. Of course, there’s an almost endless array of sandy beaches flanked by cerulean water, as well as a fabulous food scene and diverse shopping facilities. It is not at all surprising that the exotic destination continues to draw people in year after year.
Highlights of Cancun
One of the many great things about Cancun is the sheer availability of options that are available. You can fit as much or as little into your itinerary as you want. There’s a dazzling selection of things to do, but then, simply whittling away the days sipping a cocktail on a white sandy beach is pretty awesome too.
If you’re staying near the Hotel Zone – perhaps at one of these luxe apartments – then there is plenty to do right at your doorstep. The main beaches of Playa Delfines and Playa Chac Mool beckon, while other attractions range from golf courses to adventure theme parks and everything in between.
Water sports including snorkeling, windsurfing, and stand up paddle boarding are other popular options. You’ll find these both on the mainland, or on the picturesque island of Isla Mujeres.
Cancun is also a great launching-off spot for day trips to other attractions. Perhaps the most popular is visiting Chichen Itza, the beautiful Mayan stepped pyramid. Another great choice is to hit the Ruta de Cenotes to check out the many sunken swimming spots around the peninsula.
Once night falls, you may want to join the well-heeled crowds who head for Cancun’s legendary nightclubs. The most famous, Coco Bongo, is known for its incredible entertainment and non-stop party, however, there are a plethora of others such as The City Nightclub and Mandala Beach Club.
Tips for Travel to Cancun
One of the most important factors to note while planning your trip to Cancun is choosing a great place to stay. You’ll want a home base that is convenient and flexible enough to allow you to take advantage of all the great things to do in the area – after all, you don’t want to lose valuable vacation time in transit.
You’ll also want to pick somewhere that is comfortable, well-equipped, and ideally with a bit of WOW factor to spice up your stay. Check out our listings for some amazing places that check all these boxes.
Although it pays to follow some basic travel tips such as not drinking the tap water and watching out for currents, overall Cancun is extremely safe and very easy to get around as a tourist. So, don’t be afraid to let your hair down and enjoy every moment in this gorgeous and vivacious destination.
Cabo
Being two great destinations in one, Cabo has everything you could dream of for a fabulous vacation. Stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich culture combine on the fringe of the desert, to offer something truly enchanting in Cabo. No wonder the location is dearly beloved by many, including Hollywood’s A-listers like Selena Gomez and George Clooney.
Cabo at a Glance
Although it is often referred to as a singular destination, ‘Cabo’ is actually made up of two pretty distinct cities. There’s Cabo San Lucas, which is probably what you think of when you hear the name – think of beautiful beaches and bustling nightlife. About 20 minutes away, there’s San Jose El Cabo, which is quieter with more historic and cultural attractions.
Although we recommend staying in Cabo San Lucas to ensure that you’re close to the action (perhaps at one of our beautiful resorts), the most important thing is that you can easily visit both on the same trip.
Highlights of Cabo
There are many delightful highlights in Cabo but we have to start somewhere, and that is the natural scenery that forms into jaw-dropping landscapes. From picture-perfect beaches such as Medano to rock formations and even the desert not too far away, Cabo is absolutely dazzling.
The marine life is particularly fascinating, especially because Cabo is an underwater playground for divers and snorkelers. You may choose to swim with whales and sharks (from October to February) during day trips! If you prefer to keep your feet out of the water, you can also whale watch from the shore from mid-December to early April.
Zip-lining and horse riding are two other popular activities in Cabo. They are common among daredevils who want to get a little bit of an adrenaline fix. So, why not try a romantic canter along the beach – or maybe zipping through a tree canopy is more your style.
If you’re looking to splurge or just want to see how the other half lives, be sure to check out the lavish Marina. You might like to book a private or shared sailboat tour – it’s even better with bubbly, or margaritas.
The fun doesn’t die down by nighttime. You can make a booking at a famed Cabo restaurant such as farm-to-plate favorite Acre, or perhaps dance the night away at one of the famously bustling nightlife venues such as El Squid Roe or elegant Mandala.
Tips to Travel to Cabo
It’s always a delight to stay in luxe places while on vacation, but there’s something about glamorous Cabo that makes it even more fitting. Check out our listings and admire the features and views!
Cabo is a very safe destination, so there’s no need to worry about extra security – although you might want to take basic safety precautions like being careful where you put your wallet. The biggest risk, however, is the sun – so make sure you are sun smart and don’t let sunburn put a dampener on your plans.
This way you can sit back and relax on Cabo’s exquisite beaches, worrying about nothing except which cocktail you’re going to choose next time round.
