The American College of Education (ACE) honored its 20th graduating class on July 26, 2023, as more than 700 graduates and their loved ones gathered at Nationwide Arena. This momentous occasion further enriched ACE’s community, now boasting over 44,000 alumni. In addition to the live ceremonies, over 4,500 viewers participated virtually, showcasing the college’s commitment to accessible education.
The ceremony featured notable remarks from the Honorable Andrew Ginther, the mayor of Columbus, who addressed attendees during the afternoon graduation event. A highlight of the festivities included a stirring performance of the Star-Spangled Banner by Leo Welsh, the national anthem singer for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Dr. Belinda Reyes, recipient of the 2025 Alumni Achievement Award, delivered an inspirational speech emphasizing leadership and perseverance. She shared her personal journey of deferring her dream of obtaining a terminal degree due to family obligations and the challenges posed by traditional educational models. “But ACE made that dream possible again,” Dr. Reyes stated. “It asked me to live out loud and use every lesson in real time as a scholar-practitioner.”
Keynote speaker Valorie Burton, a renowned author and executive coach, motivated graduates with valuable insights on resilience, happiness, and success. Her address encouraged attendees to embrace their futures with confidence and determination.
Historically hosted in Indianapolis, this year’s commencement required a larger venue due to the growing number of graduates and attendees. Over 90 ACE volunteers traveled from across the country to support the event and celebrate the achievements of graduates.
ACE President and CEO Geordie Hyland spoke passionately about the responsibilities that come with earning a degree. “Today is not just about celebrating your achievements; it’s also about looking towards the future. Your education equips you with the tools to create positive change in your workplaces, communities, and society at large,” he remarked.
The American College of Education continues to offer more than 60 career-connected online programs, proving its dedication to providing affordable, flexible, and high-quality learning for thousands of professionals.
