Recently, on July 30, the “World Day Against Trafficking” was observed. To raise awareness about human trafficking, Worthwhile Wear organized the “Act Challenge,” whose results were released on the same day. Participants from across the globe completed over 192,000 miles in their communities. Worthwhile Wear runs restorative programs that support trafficking survivors, and the “Act Challenge” was created to encourage more people to get involved. “When people hear about human trafficking, they want to act and get involved, so we created a way for people of all ages, abilities, and locations to join us in providing care to survivors, while also raising awareness about this growing issue,” shared Dan Emr, Founder and Executive Director of Worthwhile Wear. The challenge ran from May 1st to July 30th, and everyone from individuals to businesses and schools joined in by unlocking pledged dollars with each mile logged. The Act Challenge sponsors and participants raised over $102,000, which will help Worthwhile Wear continue to provide community outreach, long-term housing, employment, counseling, and restorative services to survivors. With over 40 million people trafficked worldwide, many survivors lack access to resources for dealing with trauma, abuse, and addiction. Worthwhile Wear is creating an inclusive path for everyone to be a part of the solution. Dan Emr, Executive Director and Founder of Worthwhile Wear, is available for virtual or in-person interviews to discuss the event and the issue of human trafficking.
