Journalists are increasingly concerned about maintaining accuracy and credibility as trusted news sources in the face of emerging AI-driven applications such as ChatGPT.
The 14th annual State of the Media Report by Cision, a platform that helps PR, marketing, and communications professionals understand, influence, and amplify their stories, highlights the concerns of over 3,100 journalists from 17 global markets. The report reveals that journalists see ensuring content accuracy as their top priority (58%) and their organizations’ top priority (43%).
Moreover, more than a quarter of journalists (27%) find maintaining credibility as a trusted news source their biggest challenge. Respondents also focused on reducing bias and separating fact from opinion as priorities for future generations of journalists.
These findings indicate an opportunity for journalists and communications professionals to build authentic, trust-based partnerships that advance the objective of honest, accurate storytelling amidst media landscape changes.
Cision’s Chief Marketing Officer, Putney Cloos, emphasizes the importance of communicators aiding journalists in their quest for credible data and trustworthy, unbiased sources. By working together, journalists and communicators can protect and even elevate journalism in this critical moment of disruption.
