Rounding the halfway mark of the season, MDK Motorsports continues to pursue podiums. Held for the first time ever at the Miami Grand Prix Raceway, the weekend’s Porsche Sprint Challenge races resulted in two first-place finishes for Jimmy Llibre in the GT3 Porsche 991 class. Additionally, both Mark Kvamme (992) and Terry Olson (991) finished fourth in their classes.
As a result of Llibre’s victories, the Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader touted the young driver in an effusive Instagram post, “Dominicans continue to prove that with dedication and effort we can achieve our goals. Today, Jimmy Llibre is the living example of it, who won the first race of the Porshe Sprint Challenge in Miami, Florida, United States. Congrats Jimmy, may the successes continue!”
“It’s hard for us to take full credit for Jimmy’s success,” said team CEO Megan Kvamme. “He and all of our young professional drivers are bringing authority, passion, and success to the MDK family. We’re honored to support them and show this caliber of driving to our entire team; both professional and amateur. The diversity of our team will continue to be what sets us apart.”
“It’s been an incredible weekend at the Miami Grand Prix for MDK Motorsports,” said Team Manager Will Bamber. “It was a challenging circuit with high temperatures and a strong track which always presents a risk versus reward scenario. And our drivers balance it well. Mark and Terry both came tantalizingly close to the podiums in both races.”
Bamber continued, “Without a doubt, the highlight of the weekend goes to our young pro driver Jimmy Llibre. His winning both races in the 911 class for the inaugural Miami Grand Prix is something that will go down in the history books and was a great moment for MDK Motorsports. A huge thank-you to everyone involved, Porsche Motorsport, and the series for everything. We look forward to being back very, very soon.”
