The last week hasn’t been the easiest for the lively city of Houston, Texas. With an unexpected winter storm bombarding the city in the middle of February, Houston wasn’t ready for the severity that was coming their way. Families around the city experienced power shortages, pipe burstings, and a shortage of fuel and water. A lot of the suffering has been covered over the media in the last few days, but we haven’t heard much of the good some people are doing for others in the city.
Yesterday our team was contacted by our good friends at the Artistic Initiative Agency, who informed us of a $5000 gas giveaway happening in Houston. The event’s idea was spawned by a Houston entrepreneur, and music producer, J Starz, also known as Jeff Ali. J Starz is the owner of a Chevron gas station located near midtown of Houston, and decided to reach out to his good friend, and Houston Hip Hop Legend, Trae The Truth. Together they organized an event and made it into reality within 24 hours of planning it. With J Starz providing the fuel for the families, and Trae’s heavy pull on social media, they made quite a successful event happen.
Trae has an organization called the Relief Gang which has a mission of giving back to those in the local community who need assistance the most. With the help of the Relief Gang, Trae was able to provide bottled water, and freshly cooked food to all the families receiving gas as well.
The Artistic Initiative Agency was there to film the event, and has posted a video on YouTube as a recap to showcase the massive success of the event.
We want to give a round of applause to J Starz and Trae The Truth for being upstanding citizens of their community, their city, and this country. It takes a lot of courage and willpower to stand up in a time of pain to assist those who need it most.
